Western University Transfer Credit Permission Form – If you’re unsure about the process of transferring, you may submit you with the Transfer Credit Acquired Form, or TCAF. There’s a possibility that you’ve a course you did not complete or haven’t received a credit for or perhaps you’re wondering whether you can apply for your degree. It’s good news that you can. Generally, courses that earn grades of C or better do not need material review. However, you should be aware that coursework that doesn’t transfer to a specific U-M course is considered to be departmental-credit. If it’s not, you don’t have the ability to transfer it to an U-M-specific course and may not be able meet the requirements for your degree.
Coursework must be graded equivalent to an A or better
In order for your courses to be transferred they must be completed with the grade of C or higher. In order to be eligible for transfer credit, they must be taken at an accredited university or college, such as the Higher Learning Commission or the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MASAC). International programs are assessed as an individual case. Official transcripts have to be supplied by the CCS. Your previous institution must accept the course.
To transfer credit from your previous institution, courses you took at a foreign institution require a passing grade of C or higher. Graduations that pass or are satisfactory are not transferable, nor are colleges algebra, developmental courses or career and technical courses. However, this policy has been changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and all courses taken prior to the date of the change are now accepted.
To earn transfer credits, courses offered at regionally accredited institutions are required to be graded equivalent to “C” or better in the previous institution. To be able to transfer credits, the courses must be similar in both scope and their content. Although a C is the acceptable minimum grade for transferable credits, some institutions accept grades of “D” or higher. Accreditation bodies comprise such bodies as the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges, and the Southern Association of School and Colleges.

This TCEL listing also includes Equivalencies for courses, however, the listing does not show the difference in credit hours among institutions. Although the TCEL list courses that are comparable to the courses offered by other institutions The Office of Admissions’ evaluations depend on the most current information.
While your prior work may have been acceptable, but it is important to examine its academic consequences. If you’re unable do the required work take into consideration retaking the course. Insure that you score at least a “C” in the course and also meet any stipulations made by the institution. When you are taking a class two or three times can negatively impact your GPA cumulatively, so be careful when deciding to repeat it.
